Default BT5 Hard drive install problem.

When trying to install BT5 the installer doesn't see any of my internal SATA drives (3x 1Tb) but if I connect an external USB drive it can see that. I have tried both 64 bit and 32 bit with the same results.

    fdisk -l shows the following:
    root@root:~# fdisk -l

    Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes

Drive configuration is set to IDE in BIOS (I've tried all combinations). I managed to install BT4 on this rig without a problem.

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated as I've Googled this to death without success.

Unhappy Re: BT5 Hard drive install problem.

It looks like it's seeing the SATA drives as a RAID45?

    root@root:~# dmraid -r
    /dev/sdc: isw, "isw_dggdhffafh", GROUP, ok, 1953525166 sectors, data@ 0
    /dev/sdb: isw, "isw_dggdhffafh", GROUP, ok, 1953525166 sectors, data@ 0
    /dev/sda: isw, "isw_dggdhffafh", GROUP, ok, 1953525166 sectors, data@ 0
    root@root:~# dmraid -ay
ERROR: device-mapper target type "raid45" is not in the kernel
RAID set "isw_dggdhffafh_Volume0" was not activated

The drives aren't configured as a Raid and BT4 installed without a hitch. During boot there's also a lot of text about my graphics card (HD4780) it's scrolling so fast that I can't read it but can pick out something about traceback with the text "<---- Cut Here"

Edit: Given up and gone back to BT4 (which installed without a problem again).

Talking Re: BT5 Hard drive install problem.

Finally worked out what was going wrong and have managed to bet BT5 installed. I had to run

    apt-get remove dmraid

before trying to install. The installer could then see my hard drives etc. After installing Grub would not give me the option to boot into Windoze 7 so (after a few attempts at reinstalling - I'm pretty new to linux) I worked out that I needed to remove dmraid again and then run update-grub. Finally got BT5 dual booting.

Slowly working my way through some other issues now such as :
    1. prepare-kernel-sources causing my machine to hang at the 'extracting....' before it does a reboot. Manually prepared the sources by working through the script etc.
    2. AMD & pyrit under KDE x64 giving me problems at the moment so trying to work my way through that.

STEEP learning curve but kinda fun in itself.
