    Default wireless not working on vmware

    im using vmware to run BT5
    i tried al the start networking commands but none seem to work!
    do i have to configure my vmware to a certain settings??

    does wicd recognize your eth0 adapter? what does it say when you type ifconfig in konsole?

    have you start your adapter make sure the usb is switched on in vmware the bottom right hand corner of the vmware windows there are some icons right click them enable the adapter for the host OS
    also check setting to make sure that the usb option is discoverable so all usb pluged in will be operating in host

    The only way you can use wireless in vmware is to have a usb adapter otherwise due to limitations of it. Your connection regardless of how it is outside of vmware will be a eth0. If you do have a usb adapter you need to tell vmware to connect it in the device VM - > Removable devices - > your device name (Which can only be done once the device is plugged into the computer and your vmware is running

    dam so does that mean i have to have a wireless adapter for my laptop?
    when i use the bootable CD it works great

    also it would help to install vmware tools
    ...

    vmware will connect backtrack through NAT from your host OS. so check for eth0
