Just some personal questions/thoughts after BT 5 fresh install startup

Since usually the first thing i do on a new workstation is #ifconfig
i found dhclient on eth0 was up by default and this was a surprise.
No problem of course i configured mine back to the old way (networking stopped)
but i am just curious to understand wich reason is behind this change .
Maybe for all that posts about "how to start networking in BT"?

Then i found services running from startup but this had to be done:
for example finding metasploit already bounded to postgre was nice!

I am also curious to know why some utils like Kate, Nectactview, vncviewer and vncserver have been removed from dpkg list.
Space reasons?

Seems to me BT guys have worked alot: kde, gnome, arm, x64 also...great !

Well reading back this post seems like i am asking an interview with developers but i am just a common curious user ç_ç

Oh, man! Perhaps I've just not looked around enough, and I've tried various ways such as using update-rc.d, but I've been trying for two days to configure BT5 to start with my networking DOWN. Would you be able to tell me how you did it? XD I'm with you on this: why does it start with eth0 up? Beats me, yo.

Well i've done in a little brutal way i think, anyway:

nano /etc/network/interfaces

and i found this was the default:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet dhcp

auto eth2
iface eth2 inet dhcp

auto ath0
iface ath0 inet dhcp

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp

So after a backup i just edited cutting off everything except the loopback in

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

reboot -h now

That's it mate.

first, i like to thank the dev's of bt5 for a well balanced distro with tools to do the job.
of course tools were left out but thats not to hard cause they can be added if needed.
and for me this distro is one of the best i tried out.

Or not.

Fact is, any dev working on BT team is owed a huge THANK YOU by the rest of us.

It is also a fact that anybody running BTx should know up front "the most obvious things" as you call it. This isn't for beginners, never will be. It's core audience are security professionals who know exactly what they need from the tools. And it turns out that networking ON is not at the top of the list!

If you find yourself terribly frustrated by BT5, perhaps another distro is best for you.

Please keep your negative comments to your self.
If you don't like BT and can not provide positive means with which to help improve it, then feel free not not use it any more.
Also perhaps if one was to look in the boot menu it gives different modes to boot from, one being with networking on, another with this feature/function turned off.
