Try the airmon-ng script!
Hi!
I am using a Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8180 wlan adaptor.
aireplay is working well - i can fake-connect and inject.
But i if i start airodump-ng i get the following error:
Error setting monitor mode on wlan0
somewhere in google i found the advice to try this:
but switch-to-hostap does not exist and i have no clue.Code:Test #1 switch-to-hostap then airodump-ng -w /tmp/test wlan0 or airodump-ng -w /tmp/test wifi0 Test #2 do the same with the other driver switch-to-wlanng then airodump-ng -w /tmp/test wlan0 or airodump-ng -w /tmp/test wifi0 hope it helps
If i start ubuntu dapper drake everything works well with patched drivers.
Any advice?

Try the airmon-ng script!
"\x74\x68\x65\x70\x72\x65\x7a\x39\x38";
KwinzCode:bt ~ # airmon-ng start wlan0 Interface Chipset Driver wlan0 RTL8180 r8180 (monitor mode enabled) bt ~ # iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11b Mode:Monitor Frequency:2.457 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Retry:on Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off bt ~ # airodump-ng --ivs --write test wlan0 Error setting monitor mode on wlan0
I never said your card was bad, nor did I suggest that it was something other than a driver or config problem. But getting a supported card might be the easiest path to getting your programs working.
Also Ubuntu and BT2 are two different flavors of Linux. Don't expect that just because your card works in Ubuntu it will automatically work with BT2.

Thank you for your response and for your help. I am just a bit confused because
HERE[1] and HERE[2] ist is quoted that the card is supported.

Choice #1 buy a new supported card- http://search.ebay.com/search/search...11t&category0=
Choice #2 mess around with your shit for days trying to get it to work and the end result is_who knows
I'm not trying to be a ass but in my opionion why not have a lot of cards that work for diferent pourposes. i have a vpn wire less card, a injection card ,what im saying is that $20 bucks on ebay is pretty cheap. dont give your self a head ache with the card. learning bt can be head ache enough at times
I get the point.
But if iam buying a new card, i'd prefer one with support for an external antenna.
Can you recommend one?
