Intel Pro Wireless 2100, missing firmware

For those of you getting some errors about the missing firmware of the ipw2100, the solution is as simple as downloading the firmware from http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/firmware.php (version 1.3) and extract the files to /lib/firmware.

This is not a dead thread and there is a fix in it.

I'm having a hard time with this. I have no ethernet connection, I dropped the files in "lib" and I still get a package not found error when i try to "apt-get install ipw2100". Is my syntax wrong?

You shouldn't drop the files inside /lib, but in /lib/firmware/ instead.
