Hi,
I got the the same error, in BT-5 Gnome-64 and KDE-64.
I'm booting on default in VMware 7.1.4 on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit from the downloaded iso's. So not burned on cd or made a bootable usb.
Sometimes the error happens with the 1st click on the 'next' button sometimes later, with the KDE version it can even happen when installer is starting up freezing the whole session.
After a couple of new attempts i just reboted the host and got the gnome-version finally up and running. KDE still on a nice iso file.
I gave up on the KDE-version on VMware and swiched to VirtualBox. After a few attemps KDE got installed. But when I tried to make a 2de install the installer started to refuse again.
The other problem i got with the working KDE-version is to install the guest-additions. The installer log tells me it can't find the headers for my type of kernel in /lib/modules/2.3.28/build or soures
The gnome-version installed very nice without any problems on ViruatBox. Even the guest-additions installed with auto-run.
Edit:
I finaly got gnome and kde 64 installer working in vmware, check Backtrack 5 Fixes forum
