    That happened to me too

    But i've rebooted and choose (recovery mode) ,then repair package .and :d BT do it by it self, downloaded the driver and some upgrade and the driver worked

    Nvidia does not support optimus on linux distros at this time (and never will).

    optimus uses software to route nvidia gpu signals over the sandybridge iGPU which allows for the seamless switching.

    You can install the nvidia driver and get full CUDA usage, however you cannot use it as a display in the xorg.conf

    You'll have to set the xorg to use display 00:02.0 which is the iGPU from corei series.

    major bummer but at least we can use it for CUDA

    I have an M11x R2 as well, did you ever figure out how to get the GeForce GT 355M working? I'm running BT5 32-bit gnome

    don't log out. but reboot your ASUS, and install NVIDIA driver in CLI mode (after login, don't type startx). The error occurred because xserver still running.
