First question is which kind of WLAN adapter do you have and which commands you are running.
hi, new to this, running backtrack 5, with vm ware workstatiion, on windows 7 , 64 bit. all good, checks first packet, then get message
failed, next try with 5000 ivs, my question is, do i just leave it alone, or do i need to put in more commands??
just not sure what to do next.
thanks

kinda vague on the question you're asking but the error message seems reminiscent of a failed attack on wep using aircrack... If thats the case, rerun the attack and let the data packet number add up a lot higher than 5,000 before you stop it and run aircrack again. try with anywhere between 30 and 50k... thats what usually works for me.
You can run aircrack-ng at the same time as your gathering packets, it will crack the key once it has enough data packets. Then you can stop the packet injection.
