IT's using 130Mo for me on KDE and 219 on GNOME...
Hi,
BT4 was using like ~200MB ram and now BT5 ~600MB.
Is there any chance (DYI methods?) to lower the RAM consumption?
Regards

Running both KDE and GNOME BT5 flawlessly. Thank you !
Hm interesting, did You turn off effects or not? (VirtualBox/Vmware) and x86 / x64 ?
I am running both of them in 32 bits, hard drive install. No effects turned down !

It's time to upgrade your memory.
This is not a BT issue but rather a compatibility issue from upstream.
If upgrading is not an option then you may need to look into a more suitable distro. But in all honesty starting the x server is going to take up a bit of resources, and since the majority of tools are command line there should be no real problem.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.
