    This is only tested on Radeon HD 6470m
    the fglrx drivers are know NOT to work in backtrack most people force the i915 drivers instead.
    this is from a fresh installed backtrack 5r3

    1. apt-get install python-software-properties
    2. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:glasen/intel-driver
    3. apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
    4. download the radeon drivers from atis website
    5. install them
    6. apt-get install xorg-video-radeon
    7. edit your /etc/default/grub find the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT and change it to
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="text splash video=radeon:modeset=1"
    8. add "blacklist nouveau" to "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf"
    9. update-initramfs -u
    10. update-grub
    11. reboot

    i don't really know if ALL this steps are necessary but for the first time i have the fglrx drivers working, with dualscreen and full resolution

    Hi there,

    I have had a similar problem with my radeonhd 7670m, for which I also spent several months trying to solve it, sadly without success.
    When I look through your post though, it seems that you have installed the open source radeon-driver, rather than fglrx.
    (Steps 6-7)
    Could you paste the output of 'fglrxinfo', 'lsmod' and 'lsmod | grep fglrx' here please?
    It would help me out a lot, since I have been practically going crazy over this one, and I want to try WPA cracking with GPU :-)
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    hmm you might be right about that im new to linux in general and this was the only thing that got me dual screen + full resolution
    also hardinfo says that the openl render is the amd card before it was intel, the amdccc opens up never seen it before on linux so it only opens when the drivers are in use.
    also hashcat ocl works fine now. tbh i dont know what real drivers are used if its i915, radeon or fglrx

    heres some output you asked for

    root@bt:~# fglrxinfo
