startx -> no screens (tried some fixes)

So I bought a new laptop with windows 7 and I want to dual boot it with BT.. So I downloaded the latest backtrack distribution (BT 4 R2)

This is the laptop I bought:

So an XPS 17

Graphics card:
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M Graphics Card

I've found 3 possible fixes, which all failed for me:

* fixvesa
* fix-vesa (which is the same thing..?)
* dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg


None of these worked,
I know the 'startx' question must be asked a lot, and I did use the search button.

Have you tried installing the nvidia drivers first ?
