Bonjour Shaman,
Je ne parle pas francais tres bien parce que je suis American! Mais, le boujolais nouveau est arrivee!
Anyway, I am still in Noob territory but even after much googling, I can not find the wlanassistant 0.5.7 to download.
Can you point me in the right direction?
Merci,
Alacrity
Here is the one I used.
hostap.epitest.fi/wpa_supplicant/
Check out the READ ME section for installing....
backtrack.offensive-security.com/index.php?title=Howto:Module_Source
Here are some details from MUTS on installing source to Module. This really helped me...
. . . - . .
google (wlan assistant 0.5.7 slackware package tgz)
after you get tgz package
tgz2lzm module.tgz module.lzm
no need to build from source with a tgz package in order to get a module

Hmmmmm.
Not too much luck.
Found: wpa_supplicant-0.5.7-i486-1
On this site: http://packages.slackware.it/
Was not lucky on google with the original content: wlan assistant 0.5.7 slackware package tgz
Were you successful with a google en francais? Let me know and I will download from a French web site if necessary.
Sorry for the difficulty....I wonder why this tgz is so difficult to find?
I am presently using the w.sh script which works for wpa_supplicant but assumed the wlan assistant 0.5.7 would make the wpa process easier via GUI. Maybe I am misunderstanding your post.
Merci,
Alacrity
ust dl this slackware package
http://mesh.dl.sourceforge.net/sourc...5.7-i386-1.tgz
copy it to a temp dir
cd to this dir
for a real hd install
tar -xvf wlassistant-0.5.7-i386-1.tgz
it will create 2 dirs called "install" and "usr" dir
copy paste the "usr" dir onto the root of filesystem, when asked click overwrite all ...
for a usb or cd live install
tgz2lzm wlassistant-0.5.7-i386-1.tgz wlassistant-0.5.7-i386-1.lzm
new module created just put it in modules dir..
now start wlanassistant, yeah !!! we see the wpa flag and new options available.... new version is now installed.....

My French is not very good so in English...
I stand in your shadow.
or
You are my guru
or
Vous ete l'homme!
I finally found via google the download by shifting terms. By the way, although the new wlasssitant shows wpa, it still is hesitating to pop in for me. Had to use my wpa script to finally click in. I will try different types of wpa from the wireless router/AP to see if one works better than the other with the new wlanassistant.
Thanks again for you final help.
Alacrity
EDIT: Found that the wlassistant required HEX only ... not ASCII password for WPA-PSK to work.
