Love crunch. Amazing tool. Used it for years. My time nowadays is limited, but I do feel I could contribute to testing the new version.

Hi,
I am looking for some volunteers to test crunch 3.0. There is not a whole lot of new features but a lot of bug fixes. The biggest item to note is I had to change the * pattern symbol to a , as bash was getting the * confused.
The biggest fix is the crash that Nazagul reported. The problem was having a / in the filename. crunch will now replace any / in the filename with a space.
The biggest new feature is the -l option which lets you specify what pattern symbol (@,%^) you want crunch to treat as a literal character. Before now crunch would replace the symbol with the appropriate character.
Please let me know if you want to test crunch 3.0.
Thanks,

I haven't been ignoring you but private messaging doesn't seem to work for me anymore. If you do a man crunch and go all of the way to the bottom you will find my email address. Send me an email and I will send you the beta.
Thanks,

I would love to test 3.0 I use it on bt4 and also os x ondrovic @ gmail [dot] com
Sofar all seems to be pretty slick![]()
No errors encountered yet, however as mentioned in email, just some beauty marks on the manpage![]()
With the increased possibilities with the custom patterns using -t switch I feel it may be a
good idea to include written advice on which characters may require escaping and under which
conditions this could/should be done.
I just got pyrit and CUDA working and getting around 180,000/s. Is the beta still available?

EDIT
I have been trying to figure out how to crunch dates.
/crunch 15 15 -t "January %% 19%%" -o /root/dates
but this give me too much unusable output - Any Ideas?
can I add different character sets to each variable somehow?
