I don't know if this rubbish above is a question or not, but either way we do not use kdm in BT.
The best login manager is the shell which is how it is setup.
BEst login screen for BACKTRACK
i use KDM-KDE3 for BT 4r2 LOGIN.
it seems simple.withe blue background etc.
