This is the ground connector circled here in yellow...and its a It's a UFL Hirose connector, usually used for testing on board by the manufacturer....so now you just need to solder your ground to it, and remove the ceramic capacitor directly below it with needle-nose pliars .

Unfortunately I see no pictures of Airlink, but I guess it is similar to
D-link DWL-G650 and you should see how they did it with that card.
Don't remember the web pages but it is easy to find several.
D-link has on board two internal antennas , one has a hirose connection ,
but the card uses the second one. So with that card there were three options
connect by hirose , remove hirose and solder external wire in this place,
and finally leave hirose but cut out onboard the first antenna, and solder external instead of that one.
The point is that connecting by hirose didn't switch off internal antennas( as it should ), finally
the performance was even poorer that without external, as all the antennas were pararel connected.
I think that would apply to your card as well.
You can try to buy a pigtail , then if it is not working cut out the primary internal
antenna onboard and solder there a cable to the external one.

    OK...
heres the final product and my specs... On the line feed, ( The top soldered wire pictured) you have to get an exacto knife and LIGHTLY scrape the green stuff off of the line feed untill you expose the copper colored line feed underneath it. Then just solder your center line to it.

I had A LOT of help from the people over at aircrack-ng to pull this off. Just giving credit where credit is due...ratez and alacrityathome were the 2 main helpers of my project.

Heres a look under the hood....

    and the completed product............

and the "power test results"......BEFORE I CONNECTED THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA....I was getting between 48-52 on my power level...BTW>>>I'm about 15-20 feet from my AP / router...

And after the mod...I was getting around 63-67 on my power levels....

A difference of +11-15 ...not bad!

Also if you look on the pics..it has ANOTHER spot to solder another antenna above the spot I soldered to make it even more powerful..this is a dual printed PCB antenna. I hope this is a kick ass combo Ive built...what do you think??

Edit...I was locked on my channel and my bssid...thats why there are no other AP on the screen. And you can get this Atheros chipped card for 10 bucks refurbished or 25 bucks new at Fry's electronics.

    Hello!

Man that's a pretty cool mod! Looks like you added your own externalconnector to the airlink card. So you can add a variety of antennas!

I have this same card after seeing it was one of the best bangs for the buck. I'd liek to do something similar to this, however i'd need a little bit of help.

Any possible picture/tutorial like combinations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, and again cool mod!

P.S. so did your antenna help ya with injecting, iv collection, all that jazz?

    Nice mod.

How much did the external antenna cost? And I assume this card does monitoring/injecting? Wiki is lacking that info -- http://backtrack.offensive-security....nk101_AWLC4130

the wiki does provide accurate info, just have to realize it works a little differently.

if it DIDNT support common things needed for wardriving/etc in bt2 then it would be commented

    Riiiight and entries like this,

    or

    And then entries like this...

    http://backtrack.offensive-security....ksys_WPC54G_v3

Where they clearly state that they may be lacking in knowledge.

    "Trust, but verify..."

And to your statement. I never once said that the Wiki was inaccurate so don't put words in my mouth. And I believe I have clearly made my case as to wanting to verify said information.

    Thanks.
