    Default Documentation for Newbies?

Is there any documentation n Backtrack2 for newbies? I found the how-to guides in this forum way over my head. One started out as "Launch Kismet..." and I ran the Backtrack2 live CD, searched all the menus for Kismet, searched the hard drive for Kismet, and found nothing. I can't even launch Kismet! And how do I install new software (or maybe I can't do this via the LiveCD) like Firefox? How do I crack a WEP? How do I hack a Windows password? How do I recover data from a dead HD? How do I do any of these useful things for which Backtrack2 was designed? The guides in these forums are way too sparse and unexplained for me.

    Any tips?

    Many thanks, gurus.

    Default first bit of advise...

start slow... read much... pick a subject & try for yourself.

as you read other peoples questions, read the answers carefuly..
you will soon get the jist of what is what.ive been playing with bt linux for a little bit now.

i'll look for somthing that has been writen about, then have a go myself.
from that you learn more than just following a stepped guide.

although a good guide is helpfull when your about to throw your laptop out the window...

    goodluck.

    LOLOLOLOLOL

"searched all the menus for Kismet, searched the hard drive for Kismet, and found nothing. I can't even launch Kismet! "

just open a terminal(command line window)
    type kismet

before that you need to edit the "source line" in etc/kismet/kismet.conf

seems you haven't search well(there is a link in BT menu somewhere....search for it)

FIREFOX IS INSTALLED...you can install new softs with no pb in hd install, usb live and even in live cd (but need to reburn the modified iso)

for wep search for "cracking wep" in search fonction of forum

HELP YOURSELF BY SEARCHING READING AND TRYING BEFORE ALL
After and only after we will help you if you encounter pbs...

BTW BT2 is not intended for linux total newbee....and we are not answering machines.... so please take time to try by yourself like each of us have did it....

    Welcome aboard...........
Watch your back, your packetz will belong to me soon... xD
