I may have been born with a silver spoon in my mouth but it does not mean I like to be spoon fed.
I read that solution prior to posting. I did apt-get install lsb-core and re-installed googleearth again. My screen then freezes! when google earth tries to start.

your video card drivers failing?
run the following in terminal:
ln -s /lib/ld-linux.so.2 /lib/ld-lsb.so.3
I have lsb-core installed and /lib/ld-linux.so.2 and /lib/ld-lsb.so.3 linked. After searching for how the Ubuntu Intrepid people solved this I saw that many had success after turning off "Atmospheric Rendering". This site told how to do that in the standard Gnome desktop Ubuntu has, but I can't find it anywhere in KDE?
I'm going to guess it's a video driver thing. It works just fine in my virtualbox install.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69

Hmmm... Can any of guys recommend a good card or driver to get the job done? I may have to invest in some new hardware.
