Fixed channel problems with Belkin F5d7051

I am new to this, but having been trying all day to crack my own AP.

When I type airodump-ng -c 1 -w wep --bssid - the channel keeps on changing ie going through
the range of channels available to the USB.

From what I understand the usb should stay on the channel that the AP is on.

This causes problems when I do a second injection with the command -
aireplay-ng -3 -b (bssid)
The output is
15:00:35 Waiting for beacon frame (BSSID: 00:1CF:60:9B:9D) on channel 1
Saving ARP requests in replay_arp-0316-150035.cap
You should also start airodump-ng to capture replies.
Read 4567 packets (got 0 arp requests and 0 acks), sent 0 packets ...(0 pps)

Can someone advise me on how to set the channel on my USB or is there a file I need to download and
install if the latter can they post a guide please.

I have managed to solve this myself - prior to doing as you say googling.

Not sure exactly which method worked but it did (maybe a combination of all??)

1st I followed Injection with ZyDAS zd1211 and zd1211b (zd1211rw) tutorial and installed that last night.

2nd This Morning, I found that I should put the adapter into moniter mode... iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor and then
airmon-ng start wlan0. (From another tutorial i found this morning)

3rd Followed the tutorial that I was using with one exception airodump-ng -c 1 ... changed that to airodump-ng --channel 1
and made sure I was using wlan0 as my device voila it worked i.e it fixed on the channel i wanted and didn't go through the range that I was previously experiencing. I was then able to crack my AP with out any problems.

Was on the verge of purchasing another adapter off ebay this morning but I am glad I perservered and overcame.

Going to setup my router as a WPA2 now and attempt to hack that. (Any good Tutorials about??)

i need some help changing the mon0 channel, i'm running all airmon commands all the way on ubuntu 10.10 and at the end i got stuck with the airodump,
need to change channel mon0 from 1 to 6.
i'm useing AWUS036H, working fine on ubuntu 10.10 on my VM, cant cap without changing channels... tried to change it with airmon-ng, airodump-ng, iwconfig
but - NO GO, i'm going nutts !!!
