Try making a bash script than add it to init.d and update-rc.d
I have a cuda box with backtrack 4 r2 installed (in a closet) that I want to connect to using ultravnc on a windows xp machine.
I have the cuda box already configured for:
autostart kdm login manager
autologin root (I know the security risk)
autostart network with static ip
Vncserver is already installed.
I can launch it from: services > vnc > start vnc server.
I set a vnc server password and can connect to the cuda backtrack box using ultravnc on a windows xp machine.
How do I get the backtrack vnc server (appears to be tightvnc) to autostart when the computer turns on and automatically logs in?
Haven't found a clear solution to this problem out there.
I like to put things in my bash profile for that myself.....
into your /root/.bash_profileCode:vncserver
Additionally, ubuntu runs upstart, which is pretty easy to make a script for.
If you have an auto-login as root, why even bother with kdm? Just write an upstart script to start X.
