You should check if your card is being used at all. There are commands like ifconfig and iwconfig.
I have the Linksys AE1000 USB wireless device. I am running BT4 on VM hosted from Win7. The VM detects the USB wireless device. When typing "LSUSB" into the Kosole this is shown " Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13b1:002f Linksys AE1000 v1 802.11n [Ralink RT2870] ". So I the OS is detecting the device.
When typing "airmon-ng start wlan0" in the Kosole, I receive the following.
Found 1 processes that could cause trouble.
If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after
a short period of time, you may want to kill (some of) them!
PID Name
4747 dhclient3

Can you please assist on informing what can be down next? I'm assuming that BT4 is not using or detecting the USB wireless device as wlan0.
