Hi all, Acer netbook/wireless question

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Linux and as most have stubled @ the first hurdle, for the next few months time & net access are limited...........unless !

What I need to know is wether or not my Acer Aspire One D255-n55dqkk , Wireless card will work with backtrack ( I can boot it but right now, but it does not see the card ).

If not can I buy a usb wireles stick that will work out of the box with this machine ?

Scaff, the wireless card works.I have the same model netbook and it injects so you should have no problems.It should be listed as wlan0 when you run iwconfig -a .

If you want to get LAN network card to work then download the compat-wireless 2.6 tarball and install the atl1c driver.Theres about 5 commands to run and if you need help with them then i am happy to help ya out.

How about posting what type of card you have in that laptop along with relevant information such as what you have tried so far. Nobody is going (yeah, well, then again, someone probably will) to waste their time searching Google for Acer Aspire such and such to find out your wireless card. We prefer not to spoon feed info here, especially basic linux info that should have been posted in the first place in order to either A: Help you along or B: Tell you to try harder.

@skinnypuppy, sorry if I seem lazy but right now the only access I have to the net is via my phone, which does make searches a little complicated !
