For Me, The Wicd manager doesn't even start.
Can some one help me???
Hi guys
I'm completely new to BT, although I do have some experience of Ubuntu and Knoppix.
The problem is, I can't connect to an encrypted AP via wifi. Wicd network manager gives a list of APs (when it does indeed open), but I get a message that the network is encrypted and I cannot connect - even if I know the encryption key.

What I do to just connect my wireless with a GUI is, in a terminal type:
Or if running persistant ie: Hard Drive or USB install, make a shortcut on the Desktop with that as the application.wicd && wicd-client &

Dahaka, have you typed :
/etc/init.d/wicd start
in the terminal. lt won't start otherwise.

Have you try to lauck the deamon of wicd by "/etc/init.d/wicd start" ?
If not, do it in a shell then "wicd" to invoque the gui .

I started networking then my Wicd started as normal.............

Yes I got It.
I Used Start Network In The Services>Network menu.
Then I started The Wicd...........
Now Networking Is working just fine..........
