Are these online "wargames" sites legal to attack? (By legal I don't mean ISP terms of service, I mean legal in a court of law.) Normally a pentester would get permission in writing detailing the scope of the test but these sites don't offer that.
How are they being setup so that they don't leave the legitimate servers open to attack? Once inside anyone can then attempt further attacks on switches/routers and other servers on the network, etc...
Would you guys recommend using these resources?

Completely missed that even though I posted there and read most of Thorin's links. I'm still curious on the setup or if anyone has anything else to add.
