    Default AWUS036NH Driver Update?

hey guys, today my AWUS036NH arrived, I have to say i am impressed with the range.

Just have some strange problems with it that I'm sure will be fixed with a driver update.

Just plugged it in out of the box and it seems to work.

Web browsing and general usage is slow (just tested on apt-get update and took 2 minutes compared to 10 seconds on inbuild wlan card).

All networks in WICD are displayed with -1 Dbm (100% strength).

Autoscan doesn't work and just crashes.

    Code:
    Interface Chipset Driver

    wlan0 Atheros ath9k - [phy1]
    wlan1 Ralink RT2870/3070 rt2800usb - [phy2]
is there a driver update or a different driver I should use?

I should also add that at the moment I cracked my WEP key without a problem before trying anything else.

running backtrack 4 r2, soon to test on XP.

Most tutorials/informations from Backtrack 4 Final and R1 also apply to R2, with a few minor changes.

okay i downloaded the linux drivers but have no idea what I am supposed to be doing, the make command returns errors and I dont understand the readme.

Could someone please guide me through this? Do I even need to install using this method?

I have attached the files here, note i made them txt files so i could upload them: Makefile.txt README_STA_usb.txt

    -Very Much appreciated!

edit2: okay so on IRC I am basically being told to not have bought such an 'unsupported' card.

in the future there should be better drivers for this card as it is quite new correct? (supporting injection and all the rest) =)

a bit more info about this alfa adapter. i recently installed the latest compat-wireless drivers, (read skinnypenny's post for the link) and was able to increase tx power between 20-30 dBm, monitor mode and injection worked well, but the card became slower in connecting to an AP and transmitting data from sites, in managed mode when comparred to the awus036H with the same tx power and bitrate. so i think there is still some work to do on the rt2800usb drivers.

one correction on my first post on this topic, i mistakenly mentioned skinnypenny instead of SKINNYPUPPY . sorry for that.
btw. here is a screenshot of the iwconfig output from the 036NH

    root@bt:~# iwconfig wlan0

Well, okay. I also bought the awus036NH a few days ago, and I could not get it to work. I did a complete reinstall of Backtrack 4 R2 and it worked out of the box. I immediately installed the new drivers by following these instructions.

And now everything is fine. I think there is a problem if you update from R1 to R2. There were a lot of topics covering R1, but not one covering R2. I think that is due to the fact that most people install backtrack on their USB, and thus did a complete reinstall of R2.
Because none of the howto's worked for my R2 that was upgraded from R1.
