i would attempt to resize/create/format any partitions manually prior to starting the BT install process. try using a GParted boot CD or similar.
I have windows 7 installed in C:\ and I am trying to dual boot Backtrack with Windows 7. Installing from LIVE CD USB I chose Guide install to repartition C:\ and install backtrack. I set partition for backtrack to 150gb. Then click continue at the bottom and got a warning saying partitioning might take long time, then this error pops up. I am still able to install backtrack, it's just that after computer reboots, it doesn't show grub screen. During backtrack install I get this error, I'm not sure what is wrong. My hard drive is SATA. I had windows 7 installed first. Please help. Thanks

thank you for your response, but that doesn't work I tried that.
I found the solution though. I had to unplug all my other hard disk devices so the backtrack installer won't detect them during installation. And it worked! NO MORE eRRORS! Problem solved. Gave me a headache but yeah, finally found the solution. :-)
Thanks for replying and letting us know.
