I am unable to get Backtrack 4 R2 to boot this machine. It tries and gets to a point where it says no copatible video found.
I can only assume that it is due to this here
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 - 1GB
Is there a work around for this or a driver I can get installed before booting?
Thanks.
Yes, install the ATI driver, that should work.

Thank you for your reply.
How do I go about getting the driver installed when the Disk will not boot to get it installed?
Is there a way to edit the ISO (Backtrack) to dump the ATI driver in then burn new disk?
Thanks for your time and help with this.
Yes see the customize BT.iso guide on the wiki.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.

Failure to do so will probably get your threads deleted or worse.
if booting means gettin` the dragon thing and a pop-up asking to install not recognized stuff you are pretty much stuck....being root is quite differentIt tries and gets to a point where it says no copatible video found.
If anything can go wrong, it will....
Easy solution:
Type Fixvesa once you have entered your credentials.
Then type Startx.
I'm currently trying to get my ATI radeon card installed, but proving unsuccessful. Comes up saying Display cannot be found, and the only way it recognizes my monitor is if I perform the Fixvesa command. I'm assuming it's something to do with the driver not knowing where the monitor is, but haven't figured out a way to manually edit the file to make it work.
Let me know how you get on, if you can get your ATI card working before me, let me know as I own a Dell Studio XPS 1647 model with the same 5730 Radeon card as what you have.
Cheers,
Andy.
