Hidden SSID length issue[airodump-ng]

hey,

my router is set to hide the ssid, which I have set to belkin for this experiment.

according to the tutorial i used the network in airodump-ng is supposed to report the length of the essid, however, when I use airodump-ng it only picks up length=0 instead of 6. When using mdk3 it shows the correct ssid after a quick dictionary attack.

router problem or my problem?

If the nothing was changed on the router between testing between airodump and mdk3, then it is NOT the router

Normally just the router not revealing the length of the ESSID.

I read up on http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=airodump-ng and scrolled down to the Hidden SSID section.

Turns out my router doesn't send the length but some do.
