Upgraded to R2, get VBox Guest Additions Error

I upgraded from BT4 R1 to R2, removed my current version of Guest Additions, and downloaded and installed the new one. I get this error when it boots.

How do I fix this?

This really isn't a Backtrack issue, but a VBox one, anyway try getting the latest VBox from the official site and import Backtrack again.

I suppose you have considered making a new VM and installing Bactrack 4 R2 from scratch. The link below has a nice tutorial on how to go about this.

Why not using the premade VM of BT?

I agree and it's way more convenient having the VM image. You can find the premade VM of BT (BackTrack 4 R2 Release VMware Image) at the following site.

Downloads « BackTrack Linux – Penetration Testing Distribution

Extract the bt4-r2-vm.tar.bz2, and the extraction takes quite a lot of time.

Then create a new machine in VirtualBox and go through the prompts and keep an eye out for the step below. Then click on the little folder and point to where the BT4R2 Vmware hardrive is.

This issue that you are having, is not a BackTrack one. It is either 1 due to something you have done wrong (even if unintentionally) 2 Virtual box.
There are really 2 ways to go about this. 1 get the pre-made image from us. 2. Start all over.
Once you have done one of those then feel free to report back you success of failure. We'll wait.
