Worked on my "4 gig" (3.7 gig) sandisk, with BT4 R2 on a windows XP Machine.
Get LinuxLive USB Creator from: http://old.linuxliveusb.com/
Install linuxlivecreator
Download iso file
open linuxlivecreator
follow the steps
1 choose usb key
2 choose iso
3 choose much space you want for persistence
4 klik create
5 wait till done
6 enjoy your persistent usb key
notes:
-works only from windows
-BT4-R2 is not "supported" yet the program uses the set up for BT4-R1 but that's not a prob. The only diff is that you have to donload the iso your self where for BT4-R1 linuxlivecreator can download it for you.
- NO encryption
- Limited memory space to 4GB
Think this is realy the most easyest way to get an persistent usb key

Something something something...
I used this program to install R1 and it booted alright on it's own is there something different in R2 that will not let it boot
This is already on the wiki.
Install method - BackTrack Linux
I did it, so I know the method works.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.

Failure to do so will probably get your threads deleted or worse.
I've also used Universal USB Installer and it worked well.
