I had this lying around, and searched on the forums and saw that its on the compatible list. well when I installed BT4 via VMware and plugged the device in, backtrack doesn't even recognise is. I typed in "lsusb" but only see the linux foundation devices. I also typed in airmon-ng and the belkin USB is not even listed. I've also tried the Netgear WG111V2 which worked on vista using VMWARE and now has the same problem as the Belkin. help needed.
EDIT:
I am using Windows 7.. I realised in Vista the device (wireless usb) would install as a "vmware network device" or something similar. in windows 7, it installs as the normal driver.

in vmware did you connect it to bt? (using for example the drop down bar you get from vmware tools if you are in full screen mode) and load the drivers manually?
For my wn111v2 i need to execute the command:
for it to work.Code:modprobe -a ath ar9170usb cfg80211 mac80211
hope this helps!
what do you mean?
I havent installed VMWare tools because I don't know how to and when I go to the menu, it just says " removable devices, disconnect" which means its connected.
Do you see any USB Flash Drive shaped icon in the lower-right corner of the window? If the device was connected it should say "Disconnect (connect to host)", not just "Disconnect". Only VMware's virtual devices say only "Disconnect" (like the network adapter, or the sound card).
You won't need VMTools installed to connect a USB device to the VM. VMTools is used to share the clipboard between the guest and the host, auto-resolution to fit the window, drag-and-drop, shared folders,etc...
no it just says " network adapter bridged ":\
