Default new user of linux - where to begin?

hi, i know there is already a main subject on it.
but in it the pros say that we the new to linux should use ubunto to learn the basics.

i have installed ubunto but it is nothing like backtrack... from first encounter with it its simmilar to a "normal" windows. but backtrack is nothing the same - you need to use the consol a lot...

so from where can i learn and practice those commands?

You want to learn linux yet you are unable to use the simple search function which this forum has.
