livecd and md5 questions
Hey everyone. I'm kinda new (hence the area posting) so dont criticize if i sound stupid
I just downloaded backtrack 2.0 from the remote exploit site, and I'm not sure how to make it into a livecd. I open the files in winrar, and it gives me two folders: Boot and BT. I tried to copy them onto a cd, but that didnt work, and I can't find any help on google about it.
I also dont know how to verify the md5 sum of the file(s) i downloaded. Again, google searches turned up nothing very helpful, and the stuff that did turn up i didnt understand (too technical).
As I said, I'm learning, so please lend a hand. Thanks in advance

you need to burn the iso to a disk using a iso burning software like nero or deepburner.(cant post a link to it so just google) then when its done just throw the cd in and restart your com.

i'm lookin around, and I can't find the .iso file.
In the boot folder I got three folders : isolinux, dos, syslinux.
then the files bootinst.bat, botinst.sh, initrd.gz, memtest86p, splash.bmp, splash.bmp.gz, vesamenu.c32, vmlinux.
then in the BT folder, i got 6 folders: base, configs, modules, optional, rootcopy, and tools
and the files changelog.txt, copying, livense, make_iso.bat, make_iso.sh, requirements.txt
I looked through those, and cant find an .iso file. Maybe im lookin at it wrong or i gotta do something? i have no idea what to do......

The file you opened wiht winrar the file you downloaded is the iso...you dont have to open it with winrar you know..
-
so I have to copy both folders (Boot and BT) to a cd, and it will run?
-
ok look
download deepburner.
then click burn os .
enter the path of the iso and insert a blanck cd and click burn it will do the rest.
-
I have ultra ISO, if that matters any.
-
ok I got deepburner, but no where im looking does it say "burn os".
I have a burn iso, but it wont let my burn the folders. i gotta select a file.
God i feel like an idiot..... >.<
-
ok you dont need to extract the iso.just leave it has iso.
then go to the file were you saved the iso and click the iso that easy.
-
ooooooohhhhh ok. I was opening the iso already. Gotcha. now i get it =P
I gotta redownload it, since i hit open instead of save to disk, so once its done in a couple minutes, I'll try again.
Thanks a ton mate. I'll post more if i run into more probs
