Are you sure its not running? Its been a while but Im sure I have seen that exact behaviour from OpenVas when I ran it successfully. Did you do a process listing, check for listing ports or try and connect with the client to check?
I updated to R2 and can see that OpenVas has been upgraded to 3.0.1
Trouble is - I cannot ge it working now - I see that the server component is now called the ´scanner´ but when I run it is just loads the plugins and exits thus the client cannot connect and enable plugins etc - see below after clicking the scanner icon
W32.Sasser.Worm.nasl could not be added to the cache and is likely to stay invisible to the client.
All plugins loaded

Capitalisation is important. It's the difference between "Helping your brother Jack off a horse" and "Helping your brother jack off a horse".

Hi lupin, when I used to run the server part in 2.x the process wouldnt exit - the plugins loaded message is the same but the process didnt exit
I have checked with the client and cannot see the process running or any port listening

I have the same message like you mysecurity, but I'm perfectly able to connect the client to it.

I have made video guides with detailed instructions on getting up and running with open vas in BT4. I recently followed my own guides to ensure they were still relevant and things worked just fine. Maybe you guys should look at them. They are in the BT4 video section.

thanks for the link but the video is for version 2.x which like I said was working fine (I had set it up) prior to the upgrade from R1 to R2
If someone can point me in th direction on how to troubleshoot the issue Iḿ now having with version 3.0.1 then I would be grateful
It seems the user and cert are still present from version 2.x and are being used
But like I said the server component (called scanner now) just exits once all the plug-ins have loaded - that is different to what happened in version 2.x as the server component continued to execute hence why the browser interface could then connect to it
cheers
@Archangel-Amael mentioned that he had recently checked his guides and they work. I have also checked and everything works fine here, make sure you follow the exact steps from the video tutorial.

The guide video is for version 2.x so the menu items are different - anyways i have set it up and it should be working but I am asking for help as it is not working the way it should...
once again I need help in order to troubleshoot - I can see where the issue is - the server (now called scanner) loads all the plugins and then exits whereas it should load all the plugins and not exit (so the client can connect to it)
