I'm having similar issues. when I tried to install the nvidia drivers on R2, it errored out on me. it says
Code:nvidia-driver already the newest version ... ... Setting up nvidia-driver (256.40-bt1) FATAL: module nvidia not found
This is the error message I get after entering 'startx'. Its given after the screen goes black for a few seconds. I've not been able to find anything in these forums that helped, although I did try a few things that where suggested for similar problems. I tried 'apt-get install nvidia-driver' and it said I already had the latest driver, I also tried 'apt-get install nvidia-settings' that didn't do much either.Fatal Module Nvidia not found

I did some reading on the Ubuntu forums and a lot of people who got that (or similar) errors were told there headers where wrong or something like that... I'm not exactly sure what that means, let alone whether or not that is my problem.
If this does have something to do with the kernal header thing I mentioned above please let me know and I'll start looking into that in the morning.
My laptop has an Nvidia 8200M video card in it and I had it working on the BT4 final before upgrading to BT4 R2.
Thanks
David

Install latest driver from nvidia.com
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-d...29-driver.html.
apt-get install nvidia-driver should do the trick.
