Hi:

The IPW2100 firmware is missing from the /lib/firmware directory in BT4R2.

It is available from: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 Driver Firmware

Is it intentionally left out?

It results in wireless networking not detected/working BT4R2 when booting from the DVD on my hardware.
