I don't think this problem is from R2, but if you like just boot up another Backtrack, which worked for you and try downloading something, check the speed compared to R2.
I update to Backtrack 4 R2 today and I am experiencing a very slow internet speed. It seems limited too 100kb/s and I dont know why. With other versions of BT I have never had this problem. I always reach speeds up to 900kb/s and above.
Is anybody else experiencing this ?
PS: no I dont have bandwith limits/speed limits.

I average around 40-50kb downloading R2 from the site on upgraded R2,is that normal?
using a backtrack iso download the day after a new release is issued isn't going to tell you very much due to the usual server strain with the huge surge of download traffic. do a speed test on any of the various sites which offer them if you believe the change to r2 is causing it. compare it to older versions tests, as sickness suggested in his above post.
kde was running/net speeds on r2 just as quick for me as on bt4r1, if not faster. with fluxbox it used to be a bit slower comparatively; so i usually just used kde in r1.the difference was pretty noticeable. fluxbox performance in r2 seems to be much less different in performance/speed than kde. very nice.![]()
I am experiencing same problem very slow (clean fresh installed)
BTW I have a RTL8187b if I havent's mentioned it.
Just found out that the speeds are only slow in browsers (both Chome and Firefox)
Torrent works fine and reaches speeds up to 700 kilobytes/sec which is fine.
Speedtests give me unreliable results, some give a slow result and some fast ones (400 kilobytes/sec.)<(still slow compared to normal speed I usually have)
Anyway while browsing I cannot reach speeds above 100~120 kilobytes/sec. So I can't for example browse and listen to streaming radio and/or watching a youtube video. ( which I tested)
Can anyone figure this problem out cause I really don't know.
And the download speed from the terminal is slow too, so only torrent is fast.

For this problem, you can contact the Internet service provdier,
After that check your internet speed, through this site http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test/
It provides the best results for the speed test and also i check my speed test before and after of the downloading process
