i hope you can solve it quickly, i'm downloading it already with intention to install it, and i'm also using a rtl8187 (500mW)..
Good luck, and please keep us updated..
Thanx!
Mod Edit: Do not double post. Use sensible thread titles.
Been running BT4 R2 for a few hours and it seems sweet, rtl8187 alpha and deal extreme 2000mw usb on vmware are working perfect and response times are great have been using BT4 Final due to the fact of it being so stable but will now be moving over to R2.
Fast, vmware seems to work smooth, ferns wifi cracker is working fine too.
Regards Dee
Thanks to all the guys who have put the time and energy into BT keep up the good work.

ifconfig wlan0 up

Any way for this to be automated to survive reboot? BT4 Final never had any problems with the drivers how can this be resolved.?
Regards Dee
From our testing, this seems like a VMWare issue ... no resolution in sight. We will update
Wireless Drivers - BackTrack Linux when this gets fixed.
In our testing, we found this problem to STILL occur in more recent compat-wireless releases, but less often.
The best information security training, period.
Ok thanks muts for the reply. Im wondering if i should stick with BT4 Final as i have no problems on vmware at all with the alpha or deal extreme adapters. If I do BT4 Final to R1 upgrade will I have these issues and furthermore from R1 - R2 via upgrade. I love R2 for responsiveness but cant use it without the wifi.
Kind regards Dee
I had the same problem with R2, same adapter, same chipset (RT73). I tried copying the firmware file (rt73.bin) to /lib/firmware from /lib/firmware-2.6.35.8, where it was originally found, reinserted the dongle, and it works.
Injection works but was very slow (~20%) at first. A couple of module loads and unloads and it picked up to near 100%.
