Default low on disk space after BT4 > BT4R2 upgrade: question

Hi, I had installed BT4 Final onto an 8GB USB drive, persistent. I just completed the upgrade to BT4R2 per the wiki instructions... while my machine was executing "tar jxpf linux-source-2.6.35.8.tar.bz2" I started getting warnings that I was low on disk space.

This is what gparted shows me:

My question is, should I, and can I, safely use gparted to resize the sdb1 partition to get some space from sdb2? Or what would you suggest?

I suggest you get the R2 iso and make a new USB stick.
