problem with vmware

i download BackTrack 4 R1 Release VMware Image and i extract it
when i want open with vmware it will show me this error

I think you should get a newer VMware Workstation or try using VirtualBox

VMware Images are suppose to run in Vmware player

Yes but as you see in the error the version of the VMware Player used to create the BT4.vmdk's is newer than the one you are using, so either upgrade it or use VirtualBox

Another simple solution would be to download that backtrack 4 r1 iso. Then create a new machine, and install from the backtrack iso
