I would check the DVD writer first.
I suggest to write some data to a DVD-RW
using the extended proDVD and K3b to check that it is working
and maybe you need to change a DVD-RW.
Save2cd is a script in /usr/bin , so you can create a new file save2dvd
and first copy to it the contents of save2cd.
Once you know that you can write data with DVD burner you have to remember the commands used and edit the file save2dvd then modify commands cdrecord ... with those that are working in your case.
Finally save2cd uses configsave that creates *.mo files that in the new BT are replaced by *.lzm , then probably you have to modify configsave file in a way described on the forum ( or only replace letters .mo with .lzm in save2dvd file).
A lot of work , hope someone has an easier way.
