Default Broadcom 4303 - ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: No such file or directory ...

Hi. I've spent a couple of hours on this and no joy yet.

My focus at the moment is using the aircrack suite of tools, their wiki says that my adapter is compatible according to it's PCI id.

The built-in wireless chip of the laptop is a BCM4303.

The kernel driver in use is the b43-pci-bridge.

I can bring down the interface then put it into monitor mode but when i then try 'ifconfig wlan0 up' i get this error :

ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: No such file or directory.

When i checked on that error i found that it may mean that firmware is missing.

So i followed the info on this page :

    b43 - Linux Wireless

I've managed to extract the firmware into the directory but i'm at a loss as to how to activate the new firmware.

If anyone could point me to a helpful link that would be great.

    Thank you.

    deepy.
