ipwraw and intel 3945abg, both antenna (main & aux) must be connected?

I'm using Backtrack 4 with iwl3945 driver instead of ipwraw of course, but the question is the same.

I have a directional antenna with one connector.
Is it possible to send and recieve with it? Or should I connect an other antenna? 1 for send and 1 for recieve?

i also use BT 4 with VMware on XP and have the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG driver. Can u tell me how can i install the proper driver (like u have) using BT 4 and XP? I dont know the commands and the steps, so if u can help me..
