    Default Framebuffer background

I'm new to BackTrack, but I've been using Ubuntu as both a desktop and server platform for a while now. I noticed on the BT4 R1 live DVD, the console is inside what I assume is just a background image. I did some searching on Google and found some references to the framebuffer, fbset, and a few other things, but no solid info on how to do what you guys have done.

I want to learn how to customize the console like that, with a background image and the console not filling the entire screen. Can anyone show me how to do this or point me to a good tutorial? Thanks
