I seem to have a very similar problem,
My rt3080sta driver appears to initialize,
however my card doesn't appear to be "on" (I get a light on my notebook)
- Also the key to turn it on doesnt seem to work either,
"/ect/init.d/networking start" repeatedly gives the error messages:
"send packet: The network is down"
in between dhcp requests (etc..)
when starting the wlan,
Wired connections work fine.
any ideas peepz?
Cheers.
