Question win98 NTFS resize for Dual Boot Partition

When I run the backtrack install, the partioner won't let me resize my existing NTFS partion; the only options that show up are 'entire disk' or 'manual', and manual won't let me resize. I run GParted and it won't let me resize either and says that my partition, /dev/hda2, has bad sectors on it. I run chkdsk /f /r in windows as it prescribes, reset twice, and then use ntfsresize to resize the partition manually. now the volume size is resized but the device size is still the same and I still can't use GParted to resize or add a new partition. ntfsresize says that in order to change device size I have to use fdisk, using sector locations as the parameters, but, though I have the sector range for the device, I can't find the info on the sector range for my resized volume.

Does anyone know how I can find the sectors for the volume as opposed to the device? or another way to solve this problem? thanks.

fdisk can show you partition sizes.

Windows 98? Well outside of the fact that you are on some old software, you might try using the gparted live cd. OR some other partition manager.

Funny thing is "resize win98 ntfs partition" in google lists this thread first.
