Default Need help accessing a wired target machine on my network... New to back track

For the past few weeks I have been assaulting my wireless security and finally successfully gained access with my laptop. Now I am trying to penetrate my dummy machine which has a wired connection. Can someone point me in the right direction? Any pointers would be appreciated. Ie. which attacks would be best to use etc.

Thanks guys I'll try to learn as fast as possible

What harm could one more monkey with a machine gun do? ...

If you want to really learn, you have to be ready to read, read, and read some more. Every good hacker is adept at absorbing information in text form. Learn to love documentation!

That said, a good starting place to research is metasploit. And by "research" I mean search these forums, Google, as well as actually open metasploit and start playing with it. To get you started, here's a tutorial for exploiting a computer running IE6: Metasploit: Reproducing the "Aurora" IE Exploit

The people at offensive security were nice enough to put out a tutorial called "Metasploit Unleashed"... google it.. it's the greatest read you're eyes will ever see.

Your inability to use a search engine is not our problem.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.

Failure to do so will probably get your threads deleted or worse.
