file:// - will be a hyperlink to a file on the server (not necessarily the same server)
http:// - a hyperlink to another webpage on the server

    Hi Compaq

Does it tread the different ones with different access recomends
I'm not entirely sure what this means? Do you mean - does it treat different file types or different links differently?

What is it that you're trying to achieve?

How is your web server setup?
