Wireless on Intel Pro/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI

Hello everybody, I'm having troubles configuring my computer so that I can connect to my wireless network. I can currently connect to the internet through my ethernet cable.

I have a Intel Pro/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI

Running iwconfig shows that
lo , eth0, irda0 all do not have wireless extenstions

I tried downloading the driver using
apt-get install ipw2100-source
But gives me an error saying the package could not be found.

So i downloaded the driver from
http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/
Unzipped the file and moved it to
/lib/firware

I tried using modprobe.
And still no luck.
When i try to bring up wlan0 with
ifconfig wlan0 up
I get an error, and the device isn't found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I just got the ipw2100 to work on my dell 600m laptop. I can't tell why it's not working for you so here is exactly what i did.

I downloaded the firmware from sourceforge using firmware version 1.3.
Unzipped and moved to:
/lib/firmware
then "modprobe ipw2100".
then I shutdown with shutdown -h 0.
Restarted , iwconfig , and it worked.
