Default proxy server problem in backtrack

    hello

i am a newbie to linux and backtrack.
i am on a LAN which uses a proxy server 17.16.0.1:8181 to connect to internet..
when i uses a tool like ettercap to capture passwords of other LAN PCs it uses to listen on port 80 for http traffic by default but my proxy server uses port 8181 to connect to web. so ettercap dosn't capture any data...

i hav used cain and abel in windows where there is a option to set ports in configure menu and i set 8181 there and it works fine..

plz help me how to set http port to 8181 on backtrack

I hope you have permission to do what you are doing. However, to make things easy, use tcpdump with a filter for port 8181 and write to pcap for later analysis or use ngrep with filter and string example, "Pass|Password", to filter out some of the unnecessary output. As far as ettercap goes, read the ettercap documentation or head over to the ettercap forums.

Wow you are a moron! I mean really you need to use cain and abel and or ettercap on an apple IP address. I find that totally believable.
I sent Steve a personal note letting him know.

    1) Try using google.
    2) Try going to the main site of whichever program it is that you're having problems comprehending and read their README, user guide, etc.
    3) Take a Internetworking 101 type class.
I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.

I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.
